CHD Group along with Government of Karnataka, National Health Mission launched the intensive training on End Malnutrition Initiative (EMI) along with the Department of Women and Child Development, Udupi, District Administration, Department of Health and Family Welfare, Udupi District, Zilla Panchayat office and the Edward & Cynthia Institute of Public Health which has curated this flagship initiative to end the burden of malnutrition.
The End Malnutrition Initiative (EMI) began as a concept curated by Edward & Cynthia Institute of Public Health which was implemented in the year 2022-2023 along with the then Minister for women and child development, Government of Karnataka which met with exceptional success and transformed the approach to ending malnutrition.
Udupi District is aiming at ending the burden of Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) and Moderate Acute Malnutrition (MAM) and to declare Udupi free of SAM and MAM in coming months. The Edward & Cynthia Institute of Public Health and CHD Group are providing technical support to the Government and also hand-holding grassroot field facilitators and communities in achieving the goal in mind.
